TWIN FALLS, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) CSI Men's Basketball moves to ninth in the NJCAA national poll.
The Golden Eagles feature a prolific offense, averaging 104.4 points per game, tops in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Nationally, CSI ranks in the top ten in eight categories, mainly offensive.
But defense, they're ranked near the bottom of the NJCAA, something they've addressed this week.
As for the women's team, Randy Rogers says his girls did their job against weaker opponents, but will be tested this weekend at the Salt Lake Invitational.
Rogers said, "now we go and start playing tougher competition. Saturday against New Mexico were are going to find out where we are. They're 14 or 15-0, ranked No. 4 in the country, we'll be tested and then the Air Force Prep team that's got a bunch of athletes, can get to the rim, shoot it, we;'ll be tested. these are teams that if you're going to be really good this year, you have to beat these teams."
"We've made a big focus on defense this week, changing things up, tried to get some personnel in different situations to be more successful, this weekend we'll have a good test with Portland Community College and it will be a good test to see if we can do defensively and if the changes we've made will pay off for us," said men's assistant coach Jeff Johnson.
The CSI ladies are 15th in the country, they'll face Air Force Prep Friday and then No. 2 New mexico on Saturday, both games at 1 pm.
The men ranked ninth in the nation take on Portland Friday at three, followed by Rexburg United Saturday at the same time.
If you can't make it to Salt Lake, SLCC will live stream the games.
