CSI beats USU Eastern on a bases-loaded walk

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) CSI Baseball is trying to overcome a hurdle in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings. The Golden Eagles had some rough road trips early on against powerhouses College of Southern Nevada and Salt Lake Community College. They fell to 0-7 in conference play.

Now CSI is on five-week long home-stand, the Golden Eagles took three of four against Colorado Northwestern last week and host USU Eastern this weekend. Both of these teams are behind CSI in the standings.

In game one on Friday, Boden Mills pitched a complete game shutout, winning 2-0.

Game two came down to the wire, with David Hudleson and Hayden Leatham delivering a pair of clutch RBI's in the bottom of the eighth to tie up the game at 4-4.

Jayson Hibbard pitched a clean ninth, with the exception of hitting a batter.

Then in the bottom of the ninth, Jackson Kohler was intentionally walked as the Eagles tried to get to Hudleson with two outs and bases loaded. The sophomore drew a walk and helped the team win the game, 5-4.

The Golden Eagles didn't play the game clean, committing six errors, Hudleson admits he was to blame for those as well and did what he caught offensively to make up for defensive miscues.

Hudleson explained, "I made a few errors today, I wasn't on top of my game, that second game, so I wanted to pick myself up, my teammates up, like they would do for me."

Did those errors cost you guys any runs?

"Yeah, it cost us one, so I really had to get that one back."

The teams battle it out again at noon on Saturday.
