Canyon Ridge High School fills two coaching positions

TWIN FALLS, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) Canyon Ridge High School will feature two new head coaches next year.

For baseball, Chris Waitley will replace Dave Slotten who's stepping down after many years with the program. According to athletic director Lonnie Ahlquist, it's unknown if Slotten will still teach PE and help with the football team in the fall.

Waitley is a familiar face and extremely active with youth sports. He teaches math at Canyon Ridge, plus has assisted with the football and softball teams.

Then Heather Webb replaces Michelle Glass as the volleyball coach. Glass moved to Iowa to pursue a junior college coaching position. Webb has coached at Wendell and more recently Jerome High School.

Waitley explained, "we're just going to focus on being fundamentally sound, we're going to grind out every pitch out of every at–bat. We're going to go compete, let the chips fall where they may, hopefully they fall in our favor, more often than they don't."

Webb said, "I was really ready to run a program that was my aspiration since I was young, to coach a varsity program. When we played against Canyon Ridge, I knew there was good competition, great players here. I got the opportunity here and I'm ready for it."

The Twin Falls School District Board of Trustees approved these hires at Monday's board meeting.
