Day one recap of girls state basketball; other scores

Minico 57, Hillcrest 47: Taylia Stimpson posted 23 points, while Bailey Black added 13 and Maddison Vorwaller produced 10 rebounds. The Spartans face Caldwell in Friday's semi-final game at Timberline, tip-off slated for 8 p.m. The Spartans hope for a different result at the Boise school this time around. Back on Friday, December 28 Caldwell handled Minico with ease 57-30.


Homedale 48, Buhl 35: The Indians hope to regroup when they meet Bonners Ferry in a loser-out game, Friday at 1:15 p.m. The location is Skyview High School in Nampa.


West Jefferson 51, Declo 40: The Hornets fall to the mighty Panthers of District VI. Declo looks to regroup when they battle Malad Friday at 1:15 p.m. in a loser-out game. The location for this tournament is Bishop Kelly High School in Boise.


Shoshone 32, Liberty Charter 19: The Lady Indians move to 22-1 on the season in this low-scoring affair. Next up? The Prairie Pirates, last year's state runner-up. The Indians lost to the Pirates in the semi-final and have some unfinished business, especially for the senior class. This semi-final will take place at Columbia High School on Friday starting at 6:15 p.m.


Salmon River 59, Dietrich 43. The Blue Devils didn't have an answer for Chevelle Shepard who had 22 points. Dietrich will face Kendrick Friday at 6:15 p.m. in a loser-out game. The 1A DII takes place at Nampa High School.

Carey 41, Rockland 30: Kylie Wood was unstoppable for the Panthers, leading the squad with 23 points. Carey now hopes to take down Nezperce Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the first of two semi-final games at Nampa High School.


Minico 60, Mountain Home 45:Kobe Matsen led the Spartans with 17 points and Kasen Carpenter added 15.

Twin Falls 73, Pocatello 52: Mitchell Brizee led the Bruins with 28 points, while Faust Ystueta added 16.

Oakley 53, Glenns Ferry 47: The Hornets move onto the 1A DI district championship against Valley on Tuesday, February 19 at CSI, tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. 16 of the Glenns Ferry points came from free throws. The Pilots play the winner of Raft River/Shoshone on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., also at CSI.
