Declo Football seeks first title since 2013

DECLO, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) Declo Football is in a familiar position, preparing for the 2A state championship.

With five previous appearances and two titles, head coach Kelly Kidd wants to even the score at 3-3.

This upcoming game between Declo and Firth represents a rematch of the 2012 state championship, a game which the Hornets won 22-12.

That year Declo boasted an 11-0 record headed into championship week, this year the Hornets are 12-0.

In 2012, Firth was 11-0 at this time before Declo handed the Cougars their lone loss.

Now Firth is 8-3 and one of those losses was to West Side, a team Declo has beaten twice.

Nevertheless, the Hornets are firing on all cylinders and ready to collect their first title since 2013.

Richard Robertson, senior tight end/defensive end, "we play assignment football, our coach always says you do the assignment, you get the job done. I feel like that's a great mentality to have."
