Gooding shakes off sluggish start and uses dominant second half to advance

GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Gooding looked to put that Kimberly game in the rearview mirror and focus on the 3A state playoffs. The Senators hosted American falls Thursday night, in their first meeting in four years.

The game started rather slow for the Senators. After a scoreless first quarter, Gooding only led 8-0 in the second quarter.

That changed on this pass from Shane Jennings to one of his favorite weapons, senior receiver Cayden Loveland. None of the three Beavers could stop him and his touchdown puts Gooding up two scores. Then Loveland's tall frame no match for Preston Putnam and it's 16-0 early second quarter.

American Falls' next drive, features a huge penalty against Gooding, this interception is waived off because of pass interference. The Beavers take advantage and extend their drive.

What was merely eight inches, seemed like a mile, after mutilple attempts, the beavers finally get on the board with this rushing td by Andrew Adkins, just a sophomore. And the Senators only led by eight at halftime.

The pep talk must of worked, because the fellas come out strong in the third. Cade Morris on the first play, takes it to the house, 125 yards and two touchdowns on the evening for the senior.

Jennings had a total of four touchdowns and Loveland had two TD's, as Gooding pulls away in the second half, outscoring the Beavers, 36-7, to win 52-15.

The Senators travel to Homedale next Friday, the Trojans are 9-0 and the unanimous number one overall team in the 3A ranks.
