BUHL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Last fall, Buhl Football left the outcome of the game to others and it didn't go in their favor. With the season drawing near, the Indians look for consistency and playing strong for all four quarters.
"We struggled to play the whole game, we struggled in the fourth
Quarter, so this year we're looking to push through the whole game," senior quarterback/running back Garrett Bowman explained.
In 2017, Buhl finished the year at 3–5, but coach Seth Blick says they could have easily been a 5–3 team.
Blick said, "it came down to a quarter at Burley, not executing in the first quarter at Kimberly that kept us from being a 5–3 team. We're focusing this year that we are in control of our own destiny, we aren't necessarily worried about what the other guys are doing."
Blick looked to his incoming seniors for leadership after nine graduated in May. One of those is lineman, Alex Cordoba.
"Just more teamwork, last year we struggled with that, our blocking we slacked. This year it will take work on offense and defense," Cordoba said.
Most of the squad went to camp over the summer and they're excited to see how the talent level plays out.
"Out of the 38 kids we got here, we are short on numbers but 33 of them attended camp this summer. So we got better and raised that media in experience and talent level up where I don't think we were in the past," Blick added.
Senior wide receiver/free safety Adam Lauda said, "this time of the year, the work we put in now is what comes down to it."
The fellas, especially Garrett Bowman can't wait for the rival game against Filer.
"The atmosphere there is different than any other game, everyone is hyped up ready to win and hit someone in the mouth," Bowman added.
Buhl travels to Weiser for the first game of the season on August 24.
