Hagerman basketball player signs with Western Wyoming

HAGERMAN, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A Hagerman girls basketball player follows in the footsteps of a former Pirate.

Alana Floyd inked with Western Wyoming Community College in front of a large crowd. Back in 2014, Hagerman legend Larissa Knight played for Western before transferring to Northwest College and then Southern Virginia.

Floyd's best friend Elly Yore is going to play volleyball at Casper College, which is four hours away from Rock Springs. Floyd averaged 16.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

"Honestly the thing that wowed me is the academics side of everything, they take their academics so seriously, it's more important than the game itself," Floyd said.

Head coach Derrick Lyons added, "she just has a knack for getting to the basket." "She has a good inside-out game, she's just strong, She wants to win, I think that fuels her fire to get to the rim. She has a good three-point shot as well. I think that will serve her well at the next level."

The attendees also sang "Happy Birthday" to Coach Lyons.
