DECLO, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) He committed to Boise State in June. Now on the first day of the early signing period, Keegan Duncan has made his commitment official.
The Gatorade Idaho Player of the Year and two-time All-Idaho 2A player of the year signed Wednesday afternoon in front of teammates, family, coaches, doctors and anyone else vested in Duncan.
He had nearly 20 Division I offers, but wanted to stay close to home.
The school record holder in eight categories is ranked the 13th top athlete in the nation, according to 24-7 Sports and Idaho's top recruit.
He's gotten close to other signees, such as four star prospect, Hank Bachmeier, a quarterback from Murrieta Valley High School.
Unlike Duncan, Bachmeier along with Kaiden Bennett and Casey Kline will enroll early, according to BSU.
But Duncan's choice to stay for the basketball and track seasons, is more about his commitment to Declo than anything else.
Duncan said, 'we have a group chat, we all talk to each other and I'm super close wtih Hank and Casey. Just cause they committed early as well as I did, so we've been able to talk a lot." "They're all good kids, we get along super well. We're excited to meet each other in person and work together."
Declo coach Kelly Kidd on Duncan finishing his senior year at home, "he had a commitment from kids to help him in football, so I think he feels commtited to help them in basketball and finish out the spring." "It's tough for an 18 year-old kid to make that decision and his recruiting class will be there all spring which he is in contact with all the time. It was important choice for him and I'm proud of the one he made."
Duncan is one of 15 student-athletes to sign with BSU during day one of the early signing period. 14 of them are freshmen. For the full list, please visit the Related Information section on this page.
