Idaho falls to Arizona in WNIT, end of the road for 'Splash Sisters'

TUCSON, Az. (KMVT/KSVT) The Vandals fell to Arizona Thursday night, 68-60, in front of 6,300 people at the McKale Center in Tucson.

Idaho's Taylor Pierce ended her career with six three's, which increases her NCAA single-season record of 154. She paced the Vandals with a game-high 20 points.

Despite Arizona leading virtually the entire time, the Vandals got within two in the third quarter, but then Arizona made a run.

And now Idaho finishes the year at 22-12 and will graduate their stellar seniors, also known as the "Splash Sisters", Mikayla Firenz and previously mentioned Taylor Pierce.

Coach Don Newlee calls them the greatest to ever play at Idaho.

Newlee said, "4.0 students, great kids, four years of working hard, harder than anybody for four years at practice off-season, in games without balking at it or taking plays off." "They've just been an absolute joy to coach, I'll miss them dearly. I love both of them to death," he added.
