MOSCOW, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) After suffering a blowout loss at the hands of Fresno State last weekend, Idaho decided to reverse the outcome on Saturday.
The Vandals clobbered Western New Mexico, 56–10. The 46-point margin is the largest under Paul Petrino and most since 2000.
Quarterbacks Mason Petrino and Colton Richardson combined to go 21–of–26 for 246 yards and three touchdowns. Petrino was 11–for–12 for 151 yards and one score. Richardson was 9–for–13 for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Idaho football scored 49 unanswered points.
Head coach Paul Petrino talks about his two quarterback system.
"Its starting to come better for me as the game goes on and how I attack drives," Petrino said. "I think it will be tough on the defenses. I really do, we have to keep improving. But this these next few weeks will be huge. I think the guys up front, write all five of their names down, they did a good job tonight."
Following the bye week, the Vandals travel to U.C. Davis for the conference opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. MT.
