McGinnis to join former Senators at Idaho State

POCATELLO, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Three-time all-state lineman Jake McGinnis takes his talents to Idaho State.

The Gooding Senator signed Wednesday morning in front of the entire student body.

McGinnis will reunite with former teammates, Sam Funkhouser and Ruger Jennings.

He also is a standout wrestler, looking for his third straight state championship.

McGinnis' size should help him at the next level and his future coach Rob Phencie has a similar mindset as him.

The senior said, "just his coaching mentality, he wants to win and makes the players want to win too. I'm used to winning and so I want to do the same at ISU."

"They said we'll put a helmet on you right now. I know that physically because of the way he wrestles and the way he plays football, he is prepared for the next level," explained Gooding head coach Cameron Andersen. "So I think if he comes in and battles, he has a chance to play. They graduate some guys up front and he is aggressive enough he will compete with anyone that lines up against him."

Jake will join his brother Cole in the Big Sky Conference, as the elder brother plays for Weber State.
