JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) An NBA player is lending a helping hand to area youth. Kyle Collinsworth is holding camps in Jerome and Burley this week.
The free agent most recently played for the Dallas Mavericks and appeared in 32 games last season. Collinsworth also played for the team during summer league, averaging four points and six rebounds a game. Now he's looking for a good fit with a team as the 2018–19 NBA season approaches.
But BYU fans might know him as the all–time leader in triple doubles at the Division I level.
He's hoping to give area kids some valuable tips he didn't receive as a child. "The ability with my mind, my thoughts, to be more positive, believe in myself, little tips like that, which can give people an edge, not just in basketball, but life in general."
The Jerome camp wraps up Tuesday, but kids can still register for half price. The Burley camp will be held at the Oregon Trail Recreation District on Wednesday and Thursday.
