TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A Twin Falls woman is on a quest to make the national boxing team.
Kendra Reeves and her fiance Jason Samargis are busy training at their gym, Family Boxing and Fitness in Twin Falls.
The 2018 USA Boxing Elite National Championships begin December 2 in Salt Lake City.
With two spots available on Team USA, the 152 pound Golden Gloves champion will either have to take first or second. If she succeeds, Samargis tells KMVT Reeves will become the first ever woman from Idaho to make the boxing team.
This is not an easy task, but she's already taken down some of the nation's best, including second-ranked Stephanie Malone.
Boxing has been a huge part of Reeves' life for nearly two years, but given her back so much more.
Reeves explained, "boxing is probably the hardest thing I've ever done." "It takes everything from you, mentally physically, emotionally. I just started out for fitness and I've lost 73 pounds now. That's probably one of my biggest accomplishments and it makes boxing so much more."
The pair leave Sunday, with the USA Boxing qualifier held at the Salt Palace.
Their goal is the 2020 Olympics in Japan.
