GOODING, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A Gooding athlete is making the jump from high school to Division I athletics.
Keely Wolf signed with Portland State University earlier this week. The long distance runner is coming off a fourth place finish last fall at the 3A state cross country championships. But won the titles in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs at the 3A state track championships as a junior.
The Fairfield resident started her career off at Camas County High School, but transferred to Gooding for more opportunities, including the fact the Senators field a cross country team. This small town girl is ready for Portland.
Wolf explained, "they're an only distance running program which is big for me because I'm an distance runner." "I thought that coming from a really small school going D-I, I thought that would be a big change and I'm definitely ready for it."
Wolf's sister Laken, is going to run track at the College of Idaho.
