Thursday's high school sports roundup

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) CROSS COUNTRY(BOYS):

Twin Falls finished 10th at the Bon Conley Invitational. Two Bruin boys finished in top 20, senior Tucker Burnham (16:58) and Payson Bingham (16:59). Their fellow teammates Ben Schenk (18:50) and Josh Mix (19:02 PR) also ran well for the team.

The JV boys got 7th, as Cooper Traveller won the race with a time of 17:29.

CROSS COUNTRY(GIRLS):

Twin Falls took fourth overall with a score of 122 points. The Bruins were led by Mattie Geddes who ran her best race as a Bruin, winning the varsity race with a time of 17:52. Fellow teammates Abigail Anderson (21:55) and Brinlee Garling (19:33) also had exceptional days on the course.

JV girls get 5th at the meet paced by Alayna Geddes (23:57) however Lauren Fitzgerald (26:33) and Olivia Oler( 24:11) each had PRs on the day.

FOOTBALL:

Kimberly 50, Wood River 7: The Bulldogs led 34-7 at halftime and never looked back. McKade Huft rushed for four touchdowns and 135 yards. He also had two receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Wendell 26, Buhl 20: The Trojans won their first Homecoming game in four years. Tristan Wert threw for two touchdowns, Kyler Lukesh added a rushing touchdown, while James Hirai pulled in two touchdown receptions.

VOLLEYBALL

Twin Falls 3, Preston 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-12): Taylor Burnham produced 15 kills. Shelby Veenstra averaged 11 assists per game for a total of 33. Taylor Avram had eight aces.

On the performance head coach Andria Harshman said, " we are playing well right now and peaking at the right time. I'm proud of the body of work we've done this season to get where we are at in conference standings."

The Bruins move to 25-7 overall, 11-1 in conference play.

On Tuesday, the team honors the mother of a player who has cancer.

Lighthouse 3, Hansen 0 (27-25 25-19 25-17) Gracie Cover produced 14 kills and nine digs. Maycee Holloway added 21 assists.
