TWIN FALLS, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) More than 140 golfers played for scholarships in Twin Falls on Saturday at Canyon Springs Golf Course. And the highlight of the fundraiser, professional golfer Troy Merritt.
The Burley native and former Boise State grad just got done playing in the AT&T Byron Nelson Tournament down in Dallas.
He's made nine out of the last 10 cuts and 12 for 18 on the year. Merritt has two weeks off before leaving for Memphis and the U.S. Open qualifier.
Merritt has a busy summer ahead with golf, brother's wedding and maybe spending all of five days in Idaho.
But prior to that, he wanted to reconnect with familiar faces in the valley and show support for a worthy cause. Proceeds benefit the Magic Valley Junior Golf Foundation.
"I know that Zach and Kaylynne didn't dream that this would get so big so fast, they've done a great job. To be able to be a part of it, not so much to donate our time, it's not an obligation, it's a privilege to come down and play with these guys. To be able to see what they have done in a short period of time. We didn't have anything like this when we were growing up or when I was growing up down in Burley and see how the juniors blossomed around here. It's really cool."
