Twin Falls runner ranks as one of nation's elite

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) A Twin Falls High School runner finds herself nationally ranked.

DyeStat.com released its preseason girls top 100 and Mattalyn Geddes comes in at the century mark.

She represents one of four Idaho athletes recognized, joining Mountain View's Lexy Halladay, as well as Boise's Eve Jensen and Maggie Liebach on the list.

What might be scary to her competition, she ran her first race this fall 53 seconds faster than this time last year. You might remember last year she ended up crushing the school record.

Now she wants to do that again.

"I really want to break 18 this year, I was really close last year that was one of my goals and just to help my team to do their best," Geddes said.

Geddes won both of her meets so far this fall, the Jerome–CSI Invitational and the Dam Run. She helped her Lady Bruins finish second and first respectively in the team competition.

Geddes says she's really impressed with her freshmen teammates.
