Wood River Soccer advances to district championships; soccer roundup

HAILEY, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) The Wood River Boys Soccer team beat Twin Falls in the early game on Thursday 3-1, to secure a spot in the district championship against Canyon Ridge.

The Wolverines will host the Riverhawks for the District IV Championship Wednesday, October 11th at 4:30 pm.

Meanwhile, The Lady Riverhawks hoping to play the upset card and meet the Lady Bruins in the district title game next week at Sunway Soccer Complex.

But Wood River scored early on a goal by Payton Bacca and held on for the 2-0 win. The Lady Wolverines will face the Lady Bruins Wednesday, October 11th at 4:30 at Sunway.

BOYS SOCCER:

Man of the Match: Sophomore sweeper Shea Brokaw. Cash Dart's goal-scoring streak is now at 16 games. The Cutthroats finish regular season play at 13-3, 11-1 in league. Next up; As number two seed from league play Away vs *7 Gooding on Saturday 10/7 at the SunWay Soccer Complex in Twin Falls, in the first round of the District Tournament.

Bliss 3, Declo 2: Declo scored two early goals in the 1st half, but Bliss came into the second half ready to take the game. Angel Juarez scored first for Bliss off a laser cross from Steven Rubio (Assist). Bliss was back in the game and pumped. Captain Armando Cordoba then netted a goal off a long assist from defender Chava Rivas. Steven finished off Declo with a sniper of a goal that was sent from a bicycle kick by Armando in the box. Keeper Kaleb Gabriel racked up nine saves.

GIRLS SOCCER:

The Cutthroats traveled to Filer Thursday evening to wrap up the regular season with an 8-0 victory.

The Cutthroats end the regular season 15-0-1 (12-0 league). They earn a bye in the first round of Districts on Saturday and will host their District semifinal on Tuesday.
