TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Yesterday, KMVT reported that the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a body following an incident near centennial park. According to eyewitness reports, a man jumped from a cliff about sixty feet above the river near Centennial Waterfront Park around 3:45 p.m.

The man yelled something as he fell before hitting the water and disappearing from sight. When employees of AWOL Adventure Sports first saw the man fall into the water, they attempted to make a rescue themselves, before search and rescue arrived.

KMVT was able to interview a witness who was nearby the scene preparing for a boat tour when the incident occurred.

“We were driving towards to motorized dock, getting ready for our next tour when we heard a scream, then we looked up and saw a big splash in the water. We didn’t get to see where he jumped from, “said AWOL Manager and Tour Guide, Kaitlyn Debie.

“I drove the boat over there, and once we were over there we were notified that someone already called 9-1-1, so I called our boss who was luckily already down in the canyon-- he had some search and rescue experience, so he ran over to the dock to help us and we were on the boat with a hook, just seeing if we could catch anything, but unfortunately we didn’t but then search and rescue arrived and so did life flight.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman, Lori Stewart, the man’s body was found east of the area. The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating the incident at this time.
